PPGP-LEx - Investigating Language in Women's Physiotherapy

Advancing Understanding of PPGP Language Use

PPGP-LEx explores how language is used by women with Pelvic Girdle Pain and their physiotherapists, addressing a unique and understudied area in women's health research.

About the study
Researching Communication for Pelvic Girdle Pain

Pregnancy-related pelvic girdle pain (PPGP) affects many people during and after pregnancy and can have a big impact on everyday life. However, many people feel they do not receive clear information or feel fully understood when seeking help.

This project will explore how physiotherapists talk about PPGP and how the language they use is understood by people experiencing the condition. We will interview both physiotherapists and people with lived experience of PPGP to learn which explanations are helpful and which may cause confusion, worry, or                        misunderstanding.

By understanding the impact of different words and explanations, we hope to improve communication about PPGP, helping people feel better informed, supported, and involved in their care. The findings will help physiotherapists use clearer, more person-centred language when discussing PPGP.
